The Crimes We All Pay For

One day, most of these defenseless immigrant children, who were thrown from one place to another, will remember exactly what these men did to them. Enough willpower, sound judgment, and a sense of dignity will force them to remember the insulting events in the lives of these victims so that they will make no mistake about where to place the blame. They will not be among those who gave weight to this bigotry merely by their sense of truth and brave persuasiveness. These once helpless kids who were homeless in the United States, in their calm and painstaking anger, will give the lie to every myth of them being nothing but thieves, drug traffickers, and dangerous to Americans. A decade from now, if I am correct, some will be adults asking why Trump and his cohorts were not tried for crimes against humanity. They will stand and protest wherever they are in the world because, after so much wasting of their years, it will be the one place their pride and self-worth will have a chance to ask why so many of us stood by and denied them a part of the “shining city on the hill.” But, for now, ask yourself, how will these children, with any awareness and in all of their indignation, ever find a way to forgive this society that allowed itself to be led by MAGA morons who abused them so shamelessly?
