THERE’S NOTHING “NOBEL” ABOUT YOU, AND THIS IS WHY.
- Almost anyone can be nominated for a Nobel; you are an example of that.
- It takes a memorable figure who advocates for goodwill to win. Barack Obama won, and you did not. What pains you the most is you never will. And Obama didn’t beg to be nominated. He didn’t have to.
- The word following Nobel is “Peace,” and you have nothing to do with peace. You are about threats and ultimatums, and you cannot do it for others when you are all about yourself.
- Peace means “freedom from disturbance; tranquility.” You are the epitome of the opposite. You incite discord and hatred. You’ve brought out the worst in this nation, and like the coronavirus, we cannot wait to see you go for good. Until you go, we are not free. Still, we will fight until we are. We will protest in the streets and insist on equality.
- You are a stone-cold racist- a person who believes that one’s racial group is superior or that people of color are inferior. In reality is, you are inferior. The quality of your character ranks lowest among humankind to ever walk on the earth.
- As president, you have used your power to enforced racial segregation in the United States. You have sought to re-enact Jim Crow laws by using Republican-dominated state legislatures to disenfranchise people of color. You have done your personal best to remove the political and economic rights of non-white and religious minorities throughout your circus of an administration. Your unleashed evil is proof positive that bigotry is a commanding social force with which we must struggle to overcome. Under your policies, you ordered federal authorities to separated children from parents or guardians with whom they had entered the United States seeking humanitarian asylum.
- Humanitarian promotes the welfare of others. A humanitarian is embraces compassion and mercy. You’ve done none of these things, nor have you shed one tear for another. After four years of your preaching to “rent a crowd,” you still don’t get it. The Americans seem to come to Obama, rather than him go to Americans. There was a tremendous amount of respect for President Obama in this country.
- You appointed as your “bigot in charge” Stephen Miller, “the singular force behind the administration’s redneck agenda.” Miller is the architect of your “let’s make the Klan great again” national agenda.
- Your policy has allowed for the systemic denial of entry to asylum seekers. It is illegal for the US to deny anyone the right to seek asylum, but you have done so anyway.
- Despite a federal judge’s order that the government reunites families who had been separated at the U.S.-Mexico border under your administration’s “no tolerance” migration policy, the parents of 545 children still can’t be found.
- You are just another hideous and despicable Nobel nominee. Adolf Hitler was nominated in 1939 by a member of the Swedish parliament.
- Joseph Stalin of the Soviet Union was nominated not once but twice for the Nobel Peace Prize, in 1945 and 1948, following his wing war efforts, which included the reported rape of millions of women during the capture of Berlin and the death of about 65,000 people in Soviet-run gulags.
- In 2014, President Vladimir Putin was nominated for the prize, the same year that his nation was suspended from the G8 group after annexing Crimea. Did his nominee propose Putin’s name under the threat of Ricin or perhaps arsenic?
Why would any respected institution bestow such a prize on you? To do so would destroy the credibility of the Nobel Foundation. This honor has been awarded “to those who, during the preceding year, have conferred the greatest benefit to humankind.” You have not benefited humankind but one of the most destructive forces in the history of humankind.
Your “zero tolerance” immigration policy separated children from their asylum-seeking parents. These families were not criminals — many were fleeing Latin America, one of the deadliest regions globally, where their communities are overrun by organized crime, violence, human trafficking, and persecution; they sought refuge and compassion from our nation. Innocent children may suffer irreparable harm and trauma from never seeing their parents again. This makes you a criminal, and your crimes are against humanity.
There is a parallel situation that, I think, is entirely appropriate for this occasion. There’s a famous scene on a Ferris wheel. Harry Lime, portrayed by the actor Orson Welles goes on a ride on a Ferris wheel with his friend, and it stops when they get to the top. It is a crucial moment in the film. Lime has just admitted he has been diluting penicillin and selling it on the black market, resulting in many innocent victims’ death. His companion, who’s played by Joseph Cotton, asks: “Why? Why did you do this?” Orson Welles says: “For the money.” Joseph Cotton is horrified. “Have you no conscience? How do you live with yourself?” Orson Welles points to the people on the ground far below, and the people on the earth are tiny, walking around in the square. And Welles says: “Would you feel anything if one of those dots down there suddenly stopped moving? Couldn’t you foresee the risk to those patients? They were just dots to you, weren’t they? Far away, insignificant. And if they suddenly stopped moving, who’d care? Not you! The racketeer Harry Lime looks down from the amusement ride. “Nobody thinks in terms of human beings,” he tells Martins. “Governments don’t. Why should we?”
Immigrant children suffering from conduct unbecoming of a human being were cast aside like they are garbage. Babies and toddlers were disposed of without the hope of having a home. Your racist generalities held you captive, you abuse them with confidence, and then pushed your brutish personality, with full force, into making these kinds into orphans. As Americans, we must ask ourselves, with your lack of administrative expertise, why did we not insist that you be impeached for abuse of authority. Why did we sit by while the Republican senate empowered you with your executive ignorance to mandate discrimination? And how could we watch you lower an enormous emotional burden onto the shoulders of hundreds of toddlers and say to them, “You have no home, no parents that can find you or protect you! So, now carry your pain for the rest of your lives. Then, if we can devise something new to ruin your lives, we will come back and commit more crimes against your humanity.”
Why did Trump do this? Here’s why. They meant nothing to him.
He did little to combat the coronavirus. He has, however, survived his own medical miracle. He’s the world’s only living heart donor. He can’t feel their pain or sense their fear. Donald Trump is like the man on the Ferris wheel. He ignored their dignity. Those children were only dots.
